HOW MANY TOURNAMENTS DOES THE TEAM COMPETE IN PER YEAR?

Stony Brook Bowling is a program that competes in several tournaments per year (about 10-11). The travel team competes in several regional locations with a couple of flight trips per year not including postseason. If enough of a roster, we will travel with Varsity and Junior Varsity Teams.

WHERE DOES THE TEAM PRACTICE?

We practice primarily at Coram Country Lanes about 3 times per week, which is about 15 min from campus. It will usually be 2 times per week during competition weeks. Usually, the students and/or coaches can provide carpooling from campus to practice and tournaments as well for the travel team. We will venture to other nearby bowling centers for practice as well when necessary.

DOES THE TEAM RECEIVE FINANCIAL SUPPORT/FUNDING?

We have financial assistance with a line budget for expenses and sponsorship for support but being a club sport, we also do significant fundraising to cover the cost for the season.

DOES THE TEAM OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS?

No. The team is a club sport, therefore no athletic scholarships are offered. However, individuals can acquire academic scholarships for tuition assistance as well as using scholarship money acquired by SMART accounts through the USBC.

WHAT ARE THE TEAM/ATHLETIC REQUIREMENTS?  ARE THERE TRYOUTS?

We have no tryouts. All are welcomed to be part of the team however to be eligible for the travel team you will be required to have some competition experience especially on certified sport bowling conditions.
